Jennifer Siegal

Jennifer Siegal is principal and owner of Office of Mobile Design. OMD's focus is on the design and construction of portable, demountable, and mobile structures. Clients include The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Venice Community Housing Corporation, and the Hollywood Beautification Team. She is an Assistant Professor of Architecture and director of the History/Theory Department at Woodbury University. Her academic focus is on design/build, and was recognized by the ACSA with its 1996 National Design Studio Award (taught in collaboration with Todd Erlandson).

The collaborative spirit found in Siegal's design/build architectural studios emphasizes economy of means, construction techniques and the adaptive re-use of materials and building components. The ECO LAB, an example of this design/build education, was recently completed at Woodbury University's Hollywood Community Design and Urban Research Center. Other similar design/build studios have been taught by Siegal at Arizona State University and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
This summer Jennifer Siegal and Larry Scarpa will work with Woodbury students to create a mobile Construction Training Center for the Venice Community Housing Corporation.

The project will be built in Playa Vista, on the site where the Spruce Goose was built and where the new Dreamworks site is to be located. The coupling of education and practice is the basis for Siegal's inspiration and work.
